BetMakers Technology Group’s foray in to the US horse racing market takes a significant step on Saturday with the international distribution of Haskell Stakes Day from Monmouth Park, New Jersey.
The Bob Baffert-trained Authentic has opened up odds-on favourite for the Grade 1 $1 million Haskell Stakes at $1.50, with Dr Post, runner-up to boom galloper Tiz The Law in the Belmont Stakes second-favourite at $4. NY Traffic is next in-line at $7.50.
Whilst every year is a big year for the Haskell Stakes, the 2020 version and 53rd edition has taken on a different level of significance with the COVID-19 altered calendar.
The Haskell traditionally follows-on from the ‘Triple Crown’ series but this year serves as a critical lead-up for the Kentucky Derby.
The winner will not only gain 100 qualifying points for the Derby, which guarantees a start for America’s most famous race, but also will gain a ‘win and you’re in’ ticket for automatic entry into the Breeders Cup Classic to be contested at Keeneland on November 7 and worth $3.3 million to the winner.
If that’s not enough, BetMakers have got behind their close partner in the US racing game in Monmouth Park with the ‘BetMakers Bonanza’; a $1 million bonus if the winner of the Haskell can go on to to win the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup Classic.
