GBI Racing has expanded its international footprint with the launch of its UK and Irish racing content set in Malaysia through a new partnership with Global Tote, alongside Selangor Turf Club (STC), Perak Turf Club (PTC) and EQ Sports.
The new service provides Malaysian racing fans with access to world-class racing from Britain and Ireland, starting with one of the highlights of the British Flat racing calendar, this week’s five-day Qatar Goodwood Festival (July 28-August 1).
Under the agreement, GBI Racing – the joint venture between Racecourse Media Group (RMG) and Arena Racing Company (ARC) – has sublicensed its content to Global Tote, enabling wagering on selected UK and Irish race meetings through the established tote and commingling infrastructure connected to UK Tote Group and Britbet pools.
As part of the launch, up to three British and Irish racecourses per day will be selected for simulcast via the approved (EQ Link-branded) App, racecourse facilities and participating retail wagering locations. The addition of British and Irish racing strengthens an existing international racing portfolio that already includes Hong Kong, Australian and South African racing.
Beccy Green, on behalf of GBI Racing, said: "Malaysia represents an exciting new market for GBI Racing. Working alongside Global Tote, Selangor Turf Club, Perak Turf Club and EQ Sports allows us to introduce premium racing content from some of the world's most prestigious racecourses to a new audience of racing fans and bettors. Launching during Goodwood week provides an excellent showcase for the quality and competitiveness of British racing. We look forward to working closely with our partners to grow awareness, engagement and betting activity around UK and Irish racing in Malaysia.”
Jake Henson, CEO of Global Tote, said: "Connecting our global customer base is central to our Global Tote strategy and we are thrilled to facilitate top quality UK and Irish Horse racing into the Malaysian market via Global Tote’s tote operators. We are committed to growing racing's reach, expanding product offerings and delivering seamless technical solutions for our partners."
Simon Cheong, Assistant Manager, Wagering Control, of Selangor Turf Club (STC), said: “We are delighted to collaborate with GBI Racing to introduce British and Irish racing content to the Malaysian market. This partnership represents another important step in enhancing our international racing offering and providing our customers with access to a wider range of quality racing experiences. We look forward to working together to deliver greater value to racing fans and strengthen our relationship in the years ahead.”
Tan Kah Soon, CEO of Perak Turf Club, added: "The Perak Turf Club, together with the Selangor Turf Club, is immensely proud to announce that our customers will now be able to enjoy wagering on horse racing from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
