Global Tote Powers Record Setting Handicapping Championship

Las Vegas, NV - March 16, 2026 - Global Tote, a division of BetMakers Technology Group, continued its role as technology partner for the 2026 National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) National Handicapping Championship (NHC), held March 12-15 at Horseshoe Las Vegas.

In its sixth year supporting the world’s leading horse racing handicapping contest, Global Tote powered a record event with 830 entries and more than $5.2 million in total prizes, reinforcing the growth of handicapping tournaments and horse racing betting competitions.

The Championship kicked off with the “Last Chance” qualifier, where over 1,020 entries competed for 38 final spots. Across three days, players placed fictional $2 Win and Place wagers on a mix of mandatory and optional races - a format that tests skill, strategy, and consistency in pari-mutuel wagering. In one of the closest finishes in NHC history, Dylan Donnelly secured victory in the final race, edging out second place by just $0.84c to claim the $825,000 USD top prize.

Sean Bishop, Global Tote Director of Sales and Business Development commented;

“The NHC is one of the premier events on the North American racing calendar and we are ecstatic to be part of the success of the largest contest to date. In conjunction with our racing partners at Caesars Racebook, it was an honor to provide the contest platform for this $5 million event while witnessing the popularity of handicapping contests grow, engaging race fans and introducing new players to the sport.”

Global Tote’s wagering technology delivered a seamless experience, combining on-site terminals with mobile, browser-based BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) betting solutions, which accounted for 20% of contest play. Participants praised the platform for its convenience, highlighting the shift toward digital wagering and mobile betting in horse racing.

The NHC Tour continues to expand, with 175–200 qualifying handicapping contests held annually across the U.S., including events at Global Tote powered racetrack partners Monmouth Park, Lone Star Park, Hawthorne Race Course, and Kentucky Downs. Global Tote remains focused on expanding online and in-venue handicapping tournaments, supporting racetracks and enhancing access to state-of-the-art betting technology and life changing customer experiences.
