The countdown is on for the final leg of the BetMakers Bonanza, which has Kentucky Derby and Monmouth Park’s Haskell Stakes winner Authentic set-up for a huge windfall well beyond the $3.3 million on offer for the Grade I Longines Breeders Cup Classic.
First and foremost, and courtesy of the ‘BetMakers Bonanza’ which has been created this year in conjunction with BetMakers and Monmouth Park, if Authentic is successful in the November 7 renewal of the Classic he receives an extra $1 million!
The ‘Betmakers Bonanza’ was established this year for any runner that could win Monmouth Park’s feature event, the Haskell Stakes, go on to win the Derby and then finish it off with the Longines Classic at Keeneland, the major race for the Breeders Cup gala which is the richest two-days of racing on the US circuit.
On top of the ‘BetMakers Bonanza’, if Authentic wins the Classic it all but assures the highly-valued son of Into Mischief both the coveted US 3YO and Horse Of The Year titles and escalates his already well-established stallion value.
Authentic is part of a three-pronged attack from legendary trainer Bob Baffert’s stable with current favourite in international markets Improbable and Maximum Security set to make the trip from his California base to Kentucky with their Derby-winning stablemate.
In a wide betting market, Authentic currently shares the third-line of betting at 5-1 with Swiss Skydiver, who narrowly defeated him in the Preakness Stakes, Improbable the 7-2 favourite and Tizz The Law, who Authentic out-fought in the straight in the Derby rated 9/2. Maximum Security is a 13/2 chance.
